der race was started at 5am and it was raining before der race started, i had not warmed myself up after had had gathered ourselves in front of der church for group photos. then i thought everybody would going to be very suffer later on due to rain as could get cramp easily during der run. after awhile der rain had stopped. my body got wet and became heavy.
i started with pace which was slower than my normal pace, i found it to be not really comfortable as i had not warmed up and done some stretching, but i could not stop and still have to continue since der time was counting. i saw LFS at 3km mark, i wished i could pace with him all der way so that i could have chance to achieve my target, i found quite difficult to pace with him becoz he was fast going uphills and downhills, in der middle of Jalan Loke Yew, our distance became further and very difficult to follow him so i decided not to follow him anymore and run with my own pace. then i saw Gaby who was in top form today sustained his pace well.
i met Lawrence at 19km who picked up his pace nicely told me that i should have go faster, i told him i could not becoz later i would get more suffer. after 1km, Frank was having injury on 20km mark. i had my first power gel at 25km becoz stomach already playing drum (hungry), it was juz right time to have it. still long way to go, i increased my pace at 28km mark, and it was on target if i did not stop from now onwards, juz had to be strong in 30km becoz of der uphill at Jalan Hang Tuah.
i saw Lawrence again at 31km, eventually i overtook him becoz he was walking already. i met Marvin at 32km mark, he was having cramp and i asked him to slowly pick up his pace so that he could lead me all der way to der finishing point. 32km onwards, it was a long stretch of uphill followed by downhill on highway.
there was no more water in that water station in 38km, what der hell! people need water desperately in this kind of crucial moment. my mind kept telling me i should continue else i could not achieve my target however my body became very suffer and i had to stop, i walked until der Dataran Merdeka, there was another 4km to go, then i realised my advantage had gone, target was out. i was wondering how am i going to continue if i stop here? i continued running after awhile.
it was all about mental now! i had to keep going, run walk run walk... Khee Meng was juz behind me and asked me to continue, do not stop! this had gave me a little bit inspiration to continue. wow, der last 2km really made me frustrated, making u-turn and i thought of increase my pace to der finishing line but my body still weak to do so. in der last 800m, here came Mr. YS Lee who always give me advice and inspiration, he made me inspired and now my body regain some energy to dash to der finishing point, another 500m i felt like having a little bit cramp when i speed myself, so i reduced my speed a bit. finally i dashed to finishing line with lionel, choi, andrew and friends cheering for me.
even though i could not achieve what i wanted but seriously i was happy to complete der 42km without any injury and cramp, this will be my last marathon and never going to try again. i was quite satisfied with my performance today and very proud of myself. congratulation to all my friends who had completed der race today!
Where were those pacers baloons mentioned? Why no milo, bananas? Why collecting medals had to write our names on der bib and submit? then why should der organiser set der qualifying time? why der finisher t-shirt not dry fit one since they collect so much $$? What a disappointment!
